Search, presence dots and live invites in Messages

Across three releases in early October, Messages gained search, presence dots and live table invite cards.

What's new

• Search by person, chat name or any word across your conversations.
• A jump-to-latest button shows a count of new messages so you never lose your place.
• A green dot beside a name means they're on Eat With Me right now; a grey dot shows how long ago they were.
• Table invites appear as a live card right in your chat with that friend, plus a push notification.

How it works

Presence works as a reciprocal opt-out: you can turn your own dot off, but doing so also turns off seeing everyone else's, so there's no way to watch who's online without being visible yourself.

Instead of a separate screen to check, a table invite shows up as a live card in your chat with the friend who sent it. A host can also poke a friend who hasn't answered yet, which sends the invite again.
